This image provides a bird’s-eye view of how the brand new link road of wigan is currently taking shape. Reader Brian King’s drone took to the skies to catch this photo of the course south of this town center intends to alleviate pressures on its own infrastructure.

For Wigan town centre will be to the left, Marus Bridge to right and Poolstock lane halfway up the picture.

Beyond this the hyperlink street that was A49 could be viewed going across the northern side of Scotman’s Flash later that it’s going to unite Westwood Way, linking to Chapel and Poolstock Lane.

To the A49 that the street heads up Underneath the camera Warrington Road in Goose Green. Under additional stages the strategy would be to take the road upward through

One direction from Pemberton would be the M61 at Westhoughton while the other side will hook up with the M6/M58 junction. As pictured there will be two bridges needed to be built for this section. One passes over the Poolstock Lane while the other would straddle the canal (below left). This particular link road has been on the wishlist of many in wigan over the past decades. However, now finally it will be something to cheer for in wigan.

Known as Route 225, it’s been around on the verge of being built on several occasions for the aims to be shunned.

The Westwood-Goose Green segment is Likely to be completed at the middle of next year.
