expensive add-ons

A recent study by WHICH reveals that Brits who tend to buy travel ‘add-ons’ are being ripped off. This rip-off comes from some of the leading airlines like British Airways and EasyJet the options of these add-ons are the travel insurance, car hire and coach transfers to begin with.

Investigation by Which compared some of the deals on the market with the ones these airlines have to offer.

expensive add-ons

The results were shocking as some of the deals were up-to £50 more expensive than the market offerings or offers from other sources.

Booking a car hire with easyJet from Newcastle to Malage with Europcar would cost you £119. While the same deal with all the attributes same would cost you £73, if you book it with Centauro. Centauro being a highly recommended brand by Which.

Similarly, the British Airways car rental with Avis could cost you £126 for the week as compared to £75 with Enterprise.

Travel insurances are also part of all of this and not left aside. From higher excess fees and lower claim allowances to many others. When compared the services and prices from these giants and the market.

Naomi Leach, Which? Travel Editor told Sun Online Travel: “Nowadays, airlines want you to book everything for your trip through their websites because every little bit of extra commission for them adds up, whether it’s fast-track security or a Ford Fiesta in Funchal for five days.

But we would always recommend shopping around because while it may seem more convenient, there’s no point in spending £13 on cheap and cheerful insurance if you’re going to be out of pocket should you be unfortunate enough to have to make a claim.”

While the British Airways was unable to comment on all of this the EasyJet spokesperson did had something to say to the Sun Online Travel.

Concluding the story then the one major outcome from all of this has to be that you need to be careful and look for alternates before booking any services or companies for your holidays. A little research for your holidays can make it of endless benefits. Making sure that you enjoy your time to the fullest; without being a burden to your budget.
